FAQs:

Q. What is the difference between a clinical psychologist and a psychiatrist?

Clinical psychologists are trained in assessing, diagnosing and treating a range of emotional, behavioural, cognitive and relationship problems. Psychiatrists are medical doctor who have specific training in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illnesses. They prescribe psychiatric medications as a primary means of treatment.

Q. Do I need referral form to see a psychologist?

No medical referral is required. Appointment will be given to you based on the soonest available slots.

Q.How often and how many sessions will be needed?

The frequency of appointments and length of treatment period depends on the nature and severity of the presenting problems and the treatment goals selected. More serious problems such as recurring chronic depression and other ongoing stress responses often require treatment for longer than 6 months.

Q. Does seeking psychological help mean I’m weak?

This is the biggest misconception that people think about going for therapy and it has also discouraged people from seeking help when problems arise. On the contrary, seeking help is a sign of strength as everyone needs help at certain point in their life. So, you’re not alone!
